Forest Fires of Anger: Uncover the source of your anger

A single flame in the wrong place and at the wrong time can quickly become a blazing inferno. Anger, hidden deep in the heart, can happen the same way. If you find yourself losing your cool frequently, examine your heart to see if a deeper wound exists that gives rise to your anger. Fires of anger arise from four causes.

June Hunt on Anger – “Don’t Leave Any Fire Unchecked!”

Everyone periodically feels the heat of anger, but how we handle anger determines whether or not it becomes out of control. A small flame lighting a cozy campfire can ignite a forest fire … if left unchecked. Conversely, if the campfire for a cookout is snuffed out too quickly, it will not accomplish its purpose, and you will have some hungry campers!

“Anger: Act Rather than React”

People who know me don’t see me as an “angry person” and most of the time, I’m not. Yet, how well I remember that day. I opened my friend’s desk drawer (something I had never done before) to get a few paper clips. Within a few seconds, I stared at a letter to my dear friend, from her friend, bearing these words, written in an all-too-familiar hand: “We don’t need any more June Hunts in this world.” I was stunned ... hurt ... angry! Just an hour before, the writer of those words had shared these words of encouragement, “June, I’m really for you. I want to help. I want to support you in whatever way I can.” But now her words cut to the quick, wounding my heart.
