I was raised in a church home, but walked away from the church at a very early age... I struggled with feelings of worthlessness and depression pretty much my whole life. Also at a very early age got involved in drug usage - abuse, drug abuse. And got out of that, but you know still struggled with other addictions.
It was just that desperate... When I attempted suicide, God was so marvelous, was so beautiful, that He saved my life in a very miraculous way. Nothing happened to me.
The time in my life that was most devastating, where I felt like all hope was lost, was the day that I woke up and my husband decided that “I don’t want to be here anymore.”
My life was going downhill fast and I did not know where to turn to find hope for my life…
My life was riding motorcycles. My life was using motorcycles in the ministry. I became really, really rebellious. I was very angry at the doctors for telling me I couldn’t ride.
I grew up in a home where alcohol was abused, and so my childhood years were pretty rough. I became a Christian at the age of 13, but the alcoholism in my family escalated, and it was a very difficult time at home.
After I was diagnosed with cancer, I was feeling very hopeless and I needed to be reminded to fully rely on God.
When selfishness and pride got the best of me, I didn’t know it, but it was hurting my husband, my family and myself.
Earlier on in my life, depression was so gripping that I didn’t care if I ever woke up again.
As a pastor’s wife and young mother with three children under three, there were many demands on my life. Overtime, I began to get very discouraged. My husband was working late hours and I felt like I was doing too much myself. I felt hopeless and helpless.
