Hope For The Heart Expands International Outreach

Hope for the Heart today reported unprecedented results to the ministry’s international biblical-counseling program, resulting in expansion plans. More people than ever before in the ministry’s 24-year history are being reached for Christ, says Founder & CEO June Hunt. She attributes the international growth to their increased biblical-counseling training conferences, resource translations, and joint partnerships with indigenous ministry leaders.

“From Albania and Argentina to Indonesia and India, hope is the universal first aid for wounded hearts—and the supply is unlimited for those who discover its true source,” says Hunt, best known for her landmark Biblical Counseling Library of 100 topics. “In many areas of the world, biblical counseling was virtually unheard of until the arrival of Hope For The Heart. With world events in continued flux and crisis, the hunger for hope, help and healing is skyrocketing. I have no greater joy than providing biblical hope and practical help through our resources!”

In recognition of her pioneering international efforts, the National Religious Broadcasters recently recognized Hunt, whose two daily radio programs—Hope For The Heart, and the live 2-hour call-in counseling program Hope In The Night—are heard on more than 500 radio outlets world-wide.  Hunt received the NRB’s prestigious International Strategic Partnership Award at its annual 2010 convention. According to the NRB, the recognition is presented to an NRB member who has forged an effective partnership with an indigenous ministry—one that is:

  • marked by strategic planning and cooperation with indigenous coworkers, and sensitivity to cultural distinctives, and
  • an impactful Christian outreach in the target culture.

“June Hunt and Hope For The Heart have translated the ministry’s key resources, as well as train(ed) international pastors, counselors, and lay people to use them,” said Ron Harris, NRB Senior Vice-President for Strategic Partnerships, when the award was bestowed. “In the process, the ministry has poured all resulting revenue from international sales back into international ministry, rather than using it to underwrite U.S. operations. These selfless efforts continue to bring hope to millions of hurting people around the world.”

Hope’s focused international efforts began 12 years ago and now include more than 20 languages and 60 countries. In coming months, the ministry is planning expanded operations in China, Turkey, Colombia, Nepal and Germany, according to Phil Prather, International Director for Hope For The Heart.

“We’re humbled by God’s use of our extensive cross-cultural biblical-counseling resources, particularly our topical Biblical Counseling Library,” said Prather, who has worked closely with Hunt since Hope’s 1986 inception. “As we minister globally in places widely considered closed to the gospel or too hard to penetrate, we’re receiving astonishing reports about how our materials are providing God’s truth for today’s problems.”
